Job Title: Middle School Science Teacher (STEM Focus)

Location: Christian Brothers School, New Orleans, LA

Job Type: Full-Time


Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Middle School Science Teacher with a strong STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) emphasis to inspire and educate students in grades 6 & 7. The ideal candidate will foster a dynamic, hands-on learning environment that encourages scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving through interdisciplinary instruction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans in life science, earth science, physical science, and STEM-related subjects in alignment with state and national standards via a national program called Project Lead the Way (PLTW).
  • Facilitate inquiry-based labs, experiments, and collaborative projects that build student skills in the scientific method, data analysis, and engineering design.
  • Utilize technology and digital tools to enhance learning experiences and support differentiated instruction.
  • Monitor student progress through assessments, feedback, and ongoing communication with parents and guardians.
  • Integrate a traditional classroom science experience into the STEM (PLTW) curriculum so that students have both experiences
  • Maintain an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners and encourages student participation and growth.
  • Facilitate a 7th grade science fair project, including a research report and display and fair event.
  • Uphold classroom and schoolwide policies while creating a safe and respectful learning space.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related STEM field preferred (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid LA teaching certification in Middle School Science or STEM Education (or other related field).
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in integrating STEM into curriculum.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage middle school learners through innovative and hands-on teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with problem-based learning and inquiry-driven instruction.
  • Proficiency with educational technology platforms (Canvas, FACTS).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Participation or leadership in STEM extracurricular activities or competitions (Makerspace, Lego/Robotics, etc.)
