Archbishop Rummel High School Advancement Director Job Description

Founded in 1962, Archbishop Rummel High School, located in Metairie, LA.,  is an all-male Diocesan high school under the auspices of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Rummel seeks to develop young men of character who are willing to live out the motto of our founder, Archbishop Joseph Francis Rummel, "To give one's life for the sheep." 

As a member of the Leadership Team, the Advancement Director reports to the Head of School and will play a key role in the continued success and growth of the school’s mission. The Advancement Director is responsible for developing and executing a strategic long-term development plan to advance the school’s institutional goals including annual giving, major gifts, foundation grants, corporate support, and special events, as well as building relationships in the community. The Advancement Director works closely with the Head of School and other administrative leaders to set the strategic direction for the execution of all fundraising and development communications activities. 

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 
Fundraising 

  • Prospecting and Cultivation: Coordinate and refine the school’s prospect management system to ensure the effective and productive management of major gift prospects.
  • Relationship Building and Stewardship: Build on existing relationships and improve donor retention through a meaningful stewardship strategy.
  • Special Events: Overall responsibility for the planning, execution, and follow-up of fundraising and special events.
  • Ensure the timely processing and acknowledgement of all gifts
  • Work collaboratively with the Advancement team to ensure integrated communications and consistent strategies.
  • Represent Archbishop Rummel High School in the community, at events and conferences as appropriate.

 Management

  • Supervise and manage the Advancement Department staff
  • Develop and manage, with the Head of School and the Finance Director, the contributed revenue and development expense budgets and forecasts.
  • Update and/or establish development policies, systems, and procedures, with a special emphasis on professionalism and ethical standards for soliciting, tracking, and reporting gifts and for exceeding the expectations of individual, corporate, foundation and other donors.
  • Manage contractors or vendors related to development projects (e.g., caterers, venues, etc.)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required,
  • Experience in a comprehensive development program.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Experience in supervising development personnel.
  • Working knowledge of Neon or other CRM
  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and Google Suite.

  • Proven ability of personally cultivating, closing, administering, and stewarding significant major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Proven management experience and administrative skills to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate other professionals, support staff and volunteers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, along with the ability and enthusiasm to perform in a fast-paced environment with a broad scope of activities with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise leadership skills while engaging in team-based work; high capacity to inspire cooperation and work well with teams.
  • Possess a high level of integrity, initiative, creativity, and energy.
  • Discretion, ability to maintain confidentiality where appropriate.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends and evenings when necessary.
