Early Learning Center Director Designee
Position Summary
The Early Learning Center Director Designee works alongside the Early Learning Center Director and Director Designee to support the daily operation of the Early Learning Center. This position assists with administrative responsibilities, staff support, family communication, scheduling, record keeping, and maintaining compliance with all Louisiana Department of Education licensing requirements.
The Director Designee will help ensure that the Early Learning Center provides a safe, nurturing, organized, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children. This individual should be dependable, organized, professional, and comfortable communicating with families and staff.
Qualifications
The Director Designee must:
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Meet the qualifications for a Director/Director Designee established by the Louisiana Department of Education in Bulletin 137, §1709.
- Complete and maintain all training, certifications, and continuing education required by the Louisiana Department of Education and Bulletin 137.
- Have knowledge of, or be willing to develop a strong working knowledge of, Bulletin 137 – Louisiana Early Learning Center Licensing Regulations.
- Experience working in a licensed early learning center or early childhood setting is preferred.
- Possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, confidentiality, and good judgment.
- Be able to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, staff members, children, and families.
- Be comfortable using technology for communication, scheduling, documentation, and record keeping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Director Designee will:
- Work closely with the Early Learning Center Director and Director Designee in overseeing the daily operation of the center.
- Assist in ensuring that the center remains in compliance with Bulletin 137 and all applicable Louisiana Department of Education licensing requirements.
- Help maintain appropriate child-to-staff ratios and adequate staffing throughout the day.
- Assist with the preparation of daily and weekly employee schedules and arrange coverage when staff members are absent.
- Review and maintain employee time sheets
- Support teachers and staff with daily needs and help communicate expectations and procedures.
- Monitor classrooms and common areas to help ensure appropriate supervision, safety, and adherence to center procedures.
- Assist with student arrival and dismissal procedures.
- Ensures that student attendance is completed accurately.
- Assist with maintaining documentation related to staff training, certifications, background checks, and personnel requirements.
- Support procedures related to student health, medication, allergies, incidents, and emergency information in accordance with center policies and licensing requirements.
- Assist with emergency preparedness procedures and required safety drills.
- Help ensure that classrooms and facilities meet health, safety, cleanliness, and licensing expectations.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and employees.
- Respond appropriately to parent concerns and communicate significant concerns to the Early Learning Center Director.
- Be prepared to assist with Louisiana Department of Education licensing visits and inspections.
- Serve as a leadership presence when the Early Learning Center Director is unavailable.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Early Learning Center Director or Principal.
